Sabal Trail has not met their commitments –Carol Singletary to FERC

I am strongly contesting the information provided in the RR1 Sabal-Trail-Project initial Draft PF — final PDF, Accession number 20131115-5084, docket number PF14-1. Sabal Trail has not met their commitments to provide information to me, the property owner. Their filing exaggerated their efforts to contact and respond to property owners concerns.
My impression is the landowner consultations are motivated to extract an agreement from the landowner for the survey. I have submitted questions to Sabal Trail representatives at the October 16th Open House held in Valdosta, Georgia and I am still waiting for a response. My husband and I are adamantly opposed to the pipeline which is proposed to run through our property for a variety of reasons including:
Please help us save our land and our community by blocking this pipeline.
- Safety concerns-Spectra Energy has a very questionable safety record with a history of fines by the EPA for leaks and multiple explosions;
- We already have one gas pipeline on our property and believe that we should not be required to basically give up control of even more of our personal property for which we have worked hard to purchase and maintain for yet another pipeline which will further limit the use of our property;
- Our property value would be negatively affected by up 50%;
- Financial-a one time payment is nowhere near adequate for permanent damage, especially when FPL and Spectra would continue to profit forever;
- This pipeline would be of no benefit either to our local community or state.

I am a landowner and taxpayer in close proximity to where the Sabal Trail Pipeline (Docket PF-14-1) will be put in place. I am opposed to this pipeline going in near my neighborhood. I am opposed to the pipeline on behalf of my neighbors. I think that alternate routes are available that will not impact this area in Lowndes County, Georgia.

I am concerned on why the pipeline is only going to be buried 36″ deep? Should not this pipeline be required to be buried as deep as other pipelines in the area?

Only 50 feet? Sabal Trail in Alexander City, AL
How is that “additional 50 feet of construction lane” temporary
after you’ve torn down all the trees, Sabal Trail?
And the route you’re showing Alexander City goes through Valdosta,
while around here you’re telling us a different route.
You told a Lowndes County resident you could
also build feeder pipelines, yet the Alexander City story doesn’t
mention anything about that.

The proposed corridor is 600 feet wide, but once surveys are done, that area will be decreased to some 50 feet.
“At the end of the day, should our project be approved, that comes down to only being 50 feet,” Grover said. “Then there will also be an additional 50 feet of construction lane that will be temporary so that they can build the pipeline in that easement.”

Many landowning residents along the pipeline are either feeling uninformed, or intimidated by Sabal Trail.
Larry Rodgers of Valdosta owns 900 acres in south Lowndes and he allowed Sabal Trail on his property to survey.
“I received a call from a lady, I think her name was Becky, down in Clearwater, Fla., requesting access to my property, and I allowed it,” Rodgers said. “I allowed them to, and I can’t tell you why I did. It caught me off guard. I wasn’t fully aware of all of the facts about the pipeline like I am now, and if I knew then what I know now, I certainly would not have allowed them to survey.”

Pine trees, home sites, and pipeline rights of way –Tim Bland to FERC

I am writing in regard to the construction of a new natural gas pipeline by Sable Trails/Spectra Energy, Docket #PF14-1. This proposed line will run right through the middle of my property located at 4801 Gary Lane in Valdosta, Georgia. The majority of the land that will be affected is planted in pine trees, which we use for the harvest and sale of pine straw and eventually the sale of the timber itself. Looking long-term, as a supplement for retirement, we have also considered subdividing this land into 5-acre tracks to sell for home sites.
Sable trails is demanding that we sell them a 100′ easement right in the middle of this property, directly adjacent to an existing 50′ gas line easement owned by South Georgia Natural Gas. This will make 150′ right in the middle of our property that we will no longer be able to use for straw and timber harvesting. In addition, because of the route this line takes through our property, it will render this property useless for future home sites. This pipeline will have a direct negative affect on the income earning potential of this property for straw harvesting over the next 25-30 years as well at the long-term earning potential of timber harvesting and sale for home sites.
As I understand it, South Georgia Natural Gas bid on this pipeline project with intentions to place the new line within their existing easement. However they were out bid and now refuse to allow Sable Trails/Spectra to utilize the existing easement.
